A very beautiful hill station, Aizawl (also known as Aizwal) is the capital of the state of Mizoram and is situated on a ridge 3715 ft above sea level. Aizawl is connected by roads with various major cities of Mizoram. It is connected by road with Silchar through National Highway 54 (NH54), with Agartala through National Highway 40 (NH40) and with Imphal through National Highway 150 (NH150). Various bus routes run within the city along with the taxis that ply the roads, making it very convenient for the locals to travel within the city.

Silchar is the nearest railway station to Aizawl which is only 178 km away from the city. Local trains are also available to Lumding from here. Mizoram state transport buses ply between Aizawl and Silchar daily.

Aizawl is served by Lengpui Airport, located 35 km northwest of the city. Currently Air India are operating scheduled flights daily at Lengpui Airport to Imphal and Kolkata. Jet Airways also provide scheduled flights to Guwahati and Kolkata from this Airport three flights weekly.
