Inaugurated in the year 1955, the complex of Gandhi Smriti, also known as the Gandhi memorial, is located in the central area of Bhavnagar, and lies juxtaposed to a clock tower. The museum was inaugurated in the year 1955, and currently showcases books, rare photos and memorabilia linked to the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

Also present is the Barton Museum, a museum of artefacts that displays items like nut cutters and religious carvings present at Gandhi Smriti at Bhavnagar. Aside from the museum and the picture gallery, Gandhi Smriti also houses the Khadi Gramodyog Bhandar and a library. An array of embellished items that are high quality local and traditional handicrafts and embroidered products are available at the Smriti.

The memorial has also kept alive Gandhiji's association with Bhavnagar with a niche collection of artefacts belonging to the Saurashtra region. Visitors may collect the dazzling artefacts as mementos of their visit to the place.

The nearest airport is Bhavnagar Airport which is located 9 km in North from Bhavnagar Railway Station. Alliance Air and SpiceJet operate schedule flights to Mumbai from this Airport. Auto and taxi facility to town center are available in visitors area in this Airport.
