Birla Mandir, Jaipur is a Hindu temple located in Jaipur, India and is
part of one of the several Birla mandirs located all around the country.
The grand temple is located on an elevated ground at the base of Moti
Dungari hill in Rajasthan. The temple is sometimes also referred to as
the Laxmi Narayan Temple.
Birla Temple, Jaipur At the foot of Moti Dungri fort is the Birla
Temple. This temple forms one of the major attractions of Jaipur. Birla

The enormous temple was built during the year 1988, by Birla Group of
Industries, one of the business tycoons of India.

The Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Narayan), the preserver and his
consort Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth. Due to this reason, Birla Temple
is also known as Laxmi Narayan Temple. Birla Mandir is constructed in
the finest quality of white marble. The three huge domes of the temple
represent three different approaches to the religion. The beautiful
white marble temple mesmerizes the onlookers, when it glows at night.
Stained glass widows depict the scenes from Hindu scriptures.
Ganesh the protector of households, is above the lintel, and the fine
quality of marble is evident when you enter the temple and look back at
the entrance way. The images of Lakshmi and Narayan attract the
attention, being made out from one piece of marble. Many of the deities
of the Hindu pantheon are depicted inside the temple, and on the outside
walls great historical personages and figures from all religions are
shown, including Socrates, Zarathustra, Christ, Budhda, and Confucius.
The Laxmi Narayan Mandir is a modern architectural marvel, surrounded by
lush green gardens.
The fascinating exteriors of the temple are carved splendidly with
beautiful sculptures based on mythological themes, while the interiors
have a large marble panel portraying mythological events.
Access
By Air
The nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport (IATA: JAI, ICAO: VIJP),
located in the
southern suburb of Sanganer, 13 km (8.1 mi) from Jaipur, the capital
of the Indian state of Rajasthan.
Delhi and Mumbai are the two main gateway cities to Rajasthan from
international destinations. There are regular flights connecting Delhi
and Mumbai to Jaipur and Jodhpur in Rajasthan and also important
destinations like Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai operated by domestic
carriers.
By Train / Rail
Daily super fast train connects Mumbai to Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner and
Kota. Delhi (the nearest rail head to Jaipur) is also directly connected
to Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Kota, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and
Jaisalmer. Shatabdi train operates from New Delhi station to Ajmer via
Jaipur. Double decker train is also available between Jaipur and Delhi.
By Road
Bus: The Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Kashmiri Gate, New Delhi has
almost a twenty – four hour bus service to Jaipur. Air-conditioned and
Volvo bus service of state owned Rajasthan state Roadways Transport
Corporation (RSRTC) to Jaipur is operational from the premises of
Bikaner House, Pandara Road © 011-23383469, journey time about 5 hours.
Delhi is connected to Jaipur via Darukhera, Behror, Kotputli and
Shahpura on NH 8. Jaipur is further linked to Mumbai via Ajmer, Udaipur,
Ahmedabad and Vadodara on NH 8. RSRTC also connects major destinations
in Rajasthan through express and deluxe buses from Jaipur.
