Thanjavur in
the state of Tamil Nadu, India, woke up to glory during the later Chola
period between 9th and 14th centuries. Since centuries, Thanjavur has been
considered as a treasure of, art and the 'Rice Bowl of Tamil Nadu'. It is
here where one can find the foundation stone of the most remarkable
civilization of the country, few dynasties that took Hinduism beyond the
Indian territory and a culmination of aesthetic style that spread beyond the
Tamil land.
Once a town of
Cholas, Thanjavaur today grew up to a busy bustling Indian town that
symbolize the dawn of globalization. Yet, it has beautifully restored its
heritage, tradition and religious beliefs with the majestic Brihadeeswarar
Temple welcoming millions of devotees from round the world. This town is a
great place to spot the remnants of Indian rulers and the belief in
Brihadeeswarar Temple prevailing since generations.
