American Airlines » Check-in Information
When departing from India, such as
Delhi Airport (DEL)
or Mumbai Airport
(BOM), American Airlines offers several check-in options to ensure a smooth
start to your journey.
Airport Counter Check-In
For international departures, American Airlines advises arriving at the airport
no later than 3 hours before your scheduled flight. Check-in counters generally
operate from 3 to 4 hours prior to departure and close 60 minutes before the
flight. All check-in formalities and baggage drop must be completed within this
time frame.
Online and Mobile Check-In
Online check-in is available through the American Airlines website or mobile app
starting 24 hours before departure. During this process, you can choose seats,
pay for baggage, and access your digital boarding pass. For international
departures from India, travelers may still need to visit a check-in counter for
passport and document verification.
Self-Service Kiosks
At certain Australian airports, American Airlines provides self-service kiosks
for check-in, printing baggage tags, and issuing boarding passes. Availability
of these kiosks can differ by airport location.
Required Travel Documents
Carry a valid passport, applicable visa, and any required health documentation.
For Australian passport holders, entry into the United States generally requires
either an ESTA or a U.S. visa.
Baggage Drop & Boarding
After completing check-in, proceed to the baggage drop counter, followed by
security and immigration clearance. Boarding usually commences about 45 minutes
before departure.
Check-in procedures and timelines may differ, particularly if your flight is
operated by a partner carrier such as
Qantas Airways. Verify the details with American Airlines or your booking
confirmation before traveling.
