American Airlines offers an Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service to ensure the safety and comfort of children traveling alone on international flights from Indian airports such as Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) or Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM).

Age Requirements

• Under 5 years: Not permitted to travel alone under any circumstances.

• 5 to 7 years: Only allowed on nonstop or direct flights operated exclusively by American Airlines. Unaccompanied Minor (UM) service is mandatory.

• 8 to 14 years: Permitted on nonstop and select connecting flights, but connections must be through designated American Airlines hub airports. UM service is mandatory.

• 15 to 17 years: May travel alone without UM service. However, UM service is available upon request for additional peace of mind.

Service Fee

• USD $150 each way, covering up to two children on the same booking.

Booking and Documentation

• UM reservations must be made over the phone.

• Parents/guardians must provide valid identification, contact details, and complete the UM form prior to travel.

• A birth certificate or passport may be required for age verification.

At the Airport

The accompanying adult must:

• Escort the child to the departure gate.

• Remain at the gate until the flight departs.

• Ensure the authorized pickup person at the destination presents valid ID.

American Airlines staff will supervise the child throughout the journey, including during connections, ensuring a safe and smooth travel experience.
