Faridabad is situated in the
state of Haryana and is a major industrial city of the state. This city is
located on the plains of the river Yamuna and is surrounded by the Aravalli
Hills on the western and south-western side. With the initiation of
new-fangled industries and commercial setups, the place has become a

Faridabad got its name from Sheikh Farid, or Baba Farid, as he is commonly
known. He established the city in 1607 AD in order to defend the highway
which passed through it. Baba Farid Tomb located here in the city has been
made in his honor and is counted among one of the major attractions in
Faridabad.
