KLM Promotional Air Fares

Mapusa is Goa’s main market town, the administrative capital of Bardez Taluka, 13 km south of Panjim. Mapusa is a small town, with a cross section of commercial and residential establishments. Mapusa is close to one of the main centres of Goa's tourism industry. Mapusa's proximity to many beaches in the north Goa makes it a suitable base during the tourist season (November to April). Because it is a mainly commercial town (for locals) with a large resident population, Mapusa has only a limited number of hotels and accommodation.

Mapusa comes alive on Friday, the traditional market day also known as Mapusa Friday Market. People from surrounding villages and towns come to Mapusa to sell their wares. This fair has a lot of local flavour (unlike some other tourist-oriented fairs or markets) and specialises in agricultural produce, vegetables, locally-grown fruit, spices, clothes and even plants (mainly during the monsoon planting season).

In Mapusa, taxis, buses and tongas are available easily. There are a number of moderately priced hotels in the town.

Mapusa Attractions

A happening beach 10 km west of Mapusa is less crowded than Calangute Beach, but it can get terribly congested during the peak season.

Anjuna Beach Anjuna Beach
Anjuna Beach, the "hip" beach that has lived up to its swinging reputation since the 70s, is visited as much for the atmosphere that it sports.

Lies at a distance of around 9.1 km from the destination and is situated in the Bardez Taluka. The beach has two beautiful water springs, coconut palm trees and white sand.

Chapora Fort Chapora Fort
A 500-year-old Portuguese fort. It is the most prominent feature of the little fishing hamlet of Chapora. It is situated on a vantage spot overlooking the big Vagator Beach and the blue-green waters of the Indian Ocean.
