Karad town is well known as "Dakshin Kashi" and "Karhatak". It is also a mythological city and is believed to be the holy city as Lord Rama stepped his feet on this land. A religious tourist destination to visit, Karad is a small town of Satara district in the state of Maharashtra. It is located at the confluence of Koyna River and the Krishna River.

Karad has its own domestic airport named as Karad Airport. It is currently being used for general aviation and pilot training. There are no scheduled airlines operating at this Airport. The nearest domestic / international airport is Pune International Airport, roughly 178 km from Karad. Pune International Airport is well connected to major cities in India.

Karad Hills Karad Hills
A small township in Satara which is situated on the confluence of River Krishna and River Koyna. This particular meeting point is a well known tourist spot known as Preeti Sangam, with an abundant ambience filled with serenity.
 
Preeti Sangam Preeti Sangam
Karad lies at the confluence of Koyna River and Krishna River. The Rivers meet exactly head on angle at which the streams meet. Their confluence is called Preeti Sangam, meaning Confluence of Love.
 
Krishnamai Temple Krishnamai Temple
Situated on the banks of the River Krishna, one of the two main rivers that flow in Karad, the Devi Krishnamai Temple is a major tourist attraction.
   
Koynamai Temple Koynamai Temple
Situated on the banks of Koyna River in Karad, lies the famous Temple of Devi Koynamai. It holds great religious significance for devotees and is chiefly responsible for attracting tourism to the town of Karad.
